For a replacement, a Manual J makes sure the new system is sized properly, and Manual S matches the equipment to it. On any new system we recommend Manual D so every room gets the air it needs. Energy calculation requirements vary by state and county, and we will help you determine yours.

Our project questionnaire and any construction documents you have: a dimensioned floor plan, elevations, wall sections and electrical plans. No drawings? A sketch with room-by-room dimensions, square footage and window sizes works. Reusing existing equipment? Send photos of both nameplates. If you are unsure of a value, leave it blank and your designer will go over it with you.

We are ACCA-trained HVAC designers, not a PE firm. Most residential permits do not require a sealed mechanical plan. If yours does, tell us up front and we will coordinate with your engineer.

We send an estimate before any work starts. New clients: 25% deposit to get started, or 50% up front on projects over $1,000. Existing clients: you pay nothing until we’ve done our part. Final documents are sent once the invoice is paid.

If it’s a quick change or something minor, we’ll knock it out and send updated documents at no charge. Changes that take 30 minutes or more are billed as a change order, in 30-minute increments.

In most places that adopt the IRC, yes, for new systems and new construction. Requirements for equipment replacement vary. Tell us the jurisdiction and we will tell you what they typically ask for, then confirm it with the building department if needed.

If your jurisdiction follows the IRC, usually yes, because the code ties the two together. We can run Manual S against an existing Manual J.

Yes. Tell us what you plan to install before we start, including the filter. Material and filter both change the pressure budget, and we design to what you will actually build.
